Although she had competition from a number of players who were born the same year, Sacramento center Yolanda Griffith was the oldest player in
the WNBA during the 2006 season. "Yo" was born March 1, 1970, in Chicago.
Griffith, the greatest offensive rebounder in the history of the WNBA,
was Gballmag.com second team this past summer, averaging 12.0 ppg. and
6.4 rpg. Her Monarch team lost out in the WNBA championship finals to
Detroit. In 2005, the 6-3 veteran was named Gballmag.com Player of the
Year in leading Sacramento to the league championship. She has won two
Olympic gold medals during her hardwood career.
